I did it! I danced every day this week. Thursday night was UNO swing club. It wasn’t super eventful, but James and I did video tape the Big Apple and the Tranky Doo. I will get those videos on this afternoon (or this evening while James is grading tests).
Friday night was a pretty great dance night. We went to Jitterbugs Night Out like always. There weren’t a whole lot of people there, but we still had a good time. We were able to work on some of the newer moves in our repertoire and they were pretty successful. It always makes you feel good when moves work. We did struggle a little with some fast music, so this week I would love to focus on dancing to fast music.
Saturday night was a good time. We went to Dancing with the Papillion Stars. Some friends of ours were competing in the evening and we had given them some lessons on how to rumba. Well, it turns out that they won. That was great. Then, they had some open dancing with the Jimmy B Orchestra. James and I got a chance to do some waltzing, foxtrot, and lindy hop. I really enjoy ballroom dancing when you actually put it into practice instead of just lessons. That being said, I am looking forward to when we go back to Simply Ballroom. It just isn’t working for these next couple months. Financially we need to save for Europe.
Sunday there wasn’t too much dancing, but it was still there. We are trying something new for competitions. We are putting together small phrases of dance moves. They build with the phrases of the music and will hopefully be easy to memorize. We practiced the cards, and came up with some solo jazz breaks that I think will be a lot of fun.
This week’s goals:
1. Practice fast dancing
2. Practice fast dancing
3. go over the cards and continue working on them
4. practice fast dancing
5. go over the 2 routines.
