Last night I practiced the Tranky Doo with James quite a bit. We did it five times all the way through to three different songs. I will tell you, when you get it stuck in your head that it goes to a certain song it is very hard to get it to fit in to another song. Not that it’s impossible, your brain just doesn’t work the same way.
Also, so much practice on the Tranky Doo makes the Big Apple much harder. So many of the steps are almost the same that you automatically want to go in to what comes next in the Tranky Doo even though it is not the same in the Big Apple. It gets very frustrating. I am hoping that with more drilling of both dances it will just become natural.
Tonight I would like to just turn on some music and dance. It’s Valentines day. I know that my Valentine isn’t much in to the holiday, and really neither am I. I am not wanting a fancy date, or a fancy gift, but just dancing to some songs we love will suffice. I think that will help to work on just having fun while dancing. I feel like this is the biggest hurdle that keeps James and I from where we want to be. We need to be able to smile and skip right over mistakes that we make. I want to spend this Valentines day just enjoying a dance or two.
That being said, I still have some goals. I want to work on the extended chase move. That’s one of my over arching goals for the week, and I think it can partially be accomplished tonight. I don’t think it will take too much work, just some practice.
