Another weekend with little dancing. I am still not over the cold of death. I had all intentions to practice a lot last night, and it just didn’t happen. The best thing about this goal is that there is always tomorrow. I have already danced more in the past hour than I have in the past two days. I went over the big apple 4 times at full speed, and the Tranky Doo 3 times.
I am running in to a problem right now. The two dances have some similar parts, so I am getting mixed up when it gets to certain spots. the knee slapping is especially confusing. But, I am much closer than I was two weeks ago. I can at least do both dances at full speed to their appropriate songs.
Some goals for the week-
1. Dance Every Day!
2. Work on an extended chase pattern with James.
We started this move when we were in California and it didn’t make complete sense at the time. We had sort of gotten it, but it was totally sketchy. After one of the classes with Christian and Jenny, it has made the middle of the move clearer, so we are going to try it again.
3. Work out some sequences-
We have decided not to go the “routine” route for competition purposes. We are going to explore more of a vignette option. I am not entirely sure how this is going to work, but it sounds like a great idea, so I am looking forward to working on it.
4. Work on having more fun-
I really love dancing with James. I am not always great at showing it on my face. I really want to work on having more fun while I am dancing. If I miss a move, I don’t want to fall apart or let it show in my face. Everybody misses moves. That’s part of not being a perfect dancer. I want to begin to not think so hard. Sometimes when I am focusing so hard, I miss things because I am trying too hard.
I think this is a good place to start the week. I would really love to get some videos up, but we all know that I am pretty slow at that!
