I have been super busy with school stuff lately. Between grad class projects that are due this week, and a school program for my 4th graders, I have no time to update. Here goes nothing!
Wednesday- A great day for dancing. We had classes at Simply Ballroom. The first class was a beginning samba class. This was really fun to learn the basics from the very beginning. I don’t like a lot of the latin dances, but I think this one will be fun. I have said it before that I think I will like the dances more when I actually get to dance them instead of just practicing the patterns. I am looking forward to going to the practice parties at Simply Ballroom on Sundays when it doesn’t conflict with curling.
The other class that was on Wednesday night was an intermediate East Coast swing class. Since I felt that I would be bored taking it as a follow, I decided to take it as a leader. This was good for a few different reasons. One, Alex, the instructor, has become very used to using the ladies and gentlemen terminology when referring to leaders and followers. This is trouble because that it not always the case. It was a challenge for him to say leaders and not gentlemen. He kept apologizing, but I just giggled to myself. Secondly, we were learning a tuck turn. I think that if I had to sit through this class as a follow I would have died! It was great to learn it as a leader, and I felt pretty confident since I led it on multiple women and it didn’t fail. I realize it was easy, but that was my first time ever leading!
Thursday was not a great day of dancing. Like I said, I had a program at school. I taught the students the Thriller dance, and I ended up doing it full out twice that day. I counted that as my dancing.
Friday night was the swing dance. It was pretty light on the amount of people that were there. This makes for a pretty mellow night. James and I had a few good dances, but something was a little off. We had a pretty good fox trot. Well, I would consider it pretty good, James might not feel the same ;). After that we had a great conversation with Nate that I would love to continue some time. We left the dance early, then went home to relax.
Saturday and Sunday were fail days. No dancing. It was definitely a weekend to recuperate. I slept a lot on Saturday.
This week’s goals-
